Abstract

This paper presents the cultural adaptation of the Work-related Basic Need Satisfaction scale (Work-related Basic Need Satisfaction scale, W-BNS, Van den Broeck, Vansteenkiste, De Witte, Soenens, Lens, 2010) in Romania, with description of the two surveys conducted as part of the adaptation process and the psychometric features of the adapted intermediary and final forms of the instrument. The focus is on the reliability related aspects, exploratory analysis of the factorial structure, the confirming approaches and a comparison with the Belgian normative sample, the cultural environment within which the scale was initially created and tested. The article discusses the implications of applying the instrument in the Romanian organizational structure with a view to structuring various human capital related practices, which should prove their efficiency in time.
