Confruntate cu medii externe din ce în ce mai puţin predictibile, organizaţiile au nevoie mai mult decât oricând de flexibilitate, cunoaştere şi eficienţă. O soluţie de creştere a adaptabilităţii organizaţiilor la mediile interne şi externe este schimbarea practicilor şi procedurilor manageriale, prin slăbirea accentului pus pe funcţii şi autoritate şi creşterea rolului competenţei, cunoaşterii şi participării.
